How to add the appointments using the onTap callback in the Flutter Calendar?

2 mins read

In the Flutter Event Calendar, you can add the appointments when cells are tapped by utilizing the onTap callback of the Calendar.

First, set up the default values in the initState() method:

CalendarDataSource? _dataSource;

@override
void initState() {
  _dataSource = _getDataSource();
  super.initState();
}

Then, implement the onTap callback to add appointments to the tapped cell.

void calendarTapped(CalendarTapDetails calendarTapDetails) {
  Appointment app = Appointment(
      startTime: calendarTapDetails.date!,
      endTime: calendarTapDetails.date!.add(Duration(hours: 1)),
      subject: 'Tapped appointment',
      color: Colors.greenAccent);
  _dataSource!.appointments!.add(app);
    _dataSource.notifyListeners(
        CalendarDataSourceAction.add, <Appointment>[app]);
}
