How to Hide Filters from an Excel Table using C#, VB.NET?

2 mins read

Syncfusion Excel (XlsIO) library is a .NET Excel library used to create, read, and edit Excel documents. Also, converts Excel documents to PDF files.

While working with Excel tables, filtering can be applied to organize data. This article explains how to hide filters from a table (ListObject) using C# and VB.NET.

The following code snippet shows how to hide filters from an Excel table.

C#

using (ExcelEngine excelEngine = new ExcelEngine())
{
    IApplication application = excelEngine.Excel;
    application.DefaultVersion = ExcelVersion.Xlsx;
    FileStream inputStream = new FileStream(Path.GetFullPath(@"Data/InputTemplate.xlsx"), FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read);
    IWorkbook workbook = application.Workbooks.Open(inputStream);
    IWorksheet worksheet = workbook.Worksheets[0];

    //Access the first table (ListObject) in the worksheet
    IListObject table = worksheet.ListObjects[0];

    //Clear filters from the table
    table.ShowAutoFilter = false;

    //Saving the workbook
    FileStream outputStream = new FileStream(Path.GetFullPath("Output.xlsx"), FileMode.Create, FileAccess.ReadWrite);
    workbook.SaveAs(outputStream);

    //Dispose streams
    outputStream.Dispose();
    inputStream.Dispose();
}

VB.NET

Using excelEngine As New ExcelEngine()
    Dim application As IApplication = excelEngine.Excel
    application.DefaultVersion = ExcelVersion.Xlsx

    Dim workbook As IWorkbook = application.Workbooks.Open("InputTemplate.xlsx")
    Dim worksheet As IWorksheet = workbook.Worksheets(0)

    'Access the first table (ListObject) in the worksheet
    Dim table As IListObject = worksheet.ListObjects(0)

    'Clear filters from the table
    table.ShowAutoFilter = False

    'Saving the workbook
    workbook.SaveAs("Output.xlsx")
End Using
