How to Install/Uninstall Extensions in Visual Studio Using VSIX?

VSIX Not Installed via Essential Studio Build – Manual Installation/Uninstallation Guide for Syncfusion Extensions in Visual Studio

This guide provides detailed instructions for manually installing and uninstalling Syncfusion VSIX extensions using the VSIX Installer. It serves as a temporary workaround for Syncfusion Extension not automatically installed through Essential Studio build installation.

By following these steps, you can ensure proper setup and avoid common pitfalls during manual installation or removal.

Uninstall Existing Syncfusion Extensions

  • Open Visual StudioExtensionsManage ExtensionsInstalled.
  • Search for “Syncfusion” and uninstall all related extensions.
  • Close Visual Studio and allow the VSIX Installer to complete the removal process.

Note: Kindly check any Syncfusion related files existed on below location to confirm whether Syncfusion extension was properly uninstalled. If the Syncfusion extension was not properly uninstalled from Visual Studio, you can manually delete any remaining files from the following locations:

  • %localappdata%\Microsoft\VisualStudio{17.0_xxx or 18.0_xxx}\Extensions*
  • {Visual Studio Install Path}\Common7\IDE\Extensions*

Install from Essential Studio Installation Path

To install the Syncfusion® extension from the Essential Studio installation directory:

  • Navigate to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\[Platform]\[Version]\Utilities\Extensions\VS2022

Replace:

  • [Version] with the installed version (e.g., 31.2.2)

  • [Platform] with the installed platform (e.g., MAUI)

  • Ensure all instances of Visual Studio are closed.

  • Double-click the .vsix file. The VSIX Installer will open.

  • Select the Visual Studio version checkbox (2022 and 2026) and click Modify or Install.

  • After installation, open Visual Studio → ExtensionsManage Extensions to confirm the Syncfusion extension is listed under Installed.

Install via Visual Studio Manage Extensions

The steps below demonstrate how to install the Syncfusion® Blazor extension using Visual Studio’s Manage Extensions feature. You can follow similar steps to install other extensions as needed.

  • Open the Visual Studio 2022 or 2026.
  • Navigate to Extension ->Manage Extensions and open the Manage Extensions.
  • On the left, click the Online tab and type “Syncfusion® Blazor” in the search box.

  • Click the Download button in the “Syncfusion® Blazor Template Studio” extensions.
  • Close all Visual Studio instances after downloading the extensions to begin the installation process. You will see the following VSIX installation prompt.

  • Click the Modify button.
  • After the installation is complete, open Visual Studio.
  • Now, under the menu Extensions, you can use the Syncfusion® extensions from the Visual Studio.

Note: If Update Extensions Automatically is enabled, the extension will update automatically.

Install from the Visual Studio Marketplace

The steps below illustrate how to download and install the Syncfusion® Blazor extension from the Visual Studio Marketplace.

  • Download the Syncfusion® Blazor Extensions from the below Visual Studio Marketplace.
    Visual Studio 2022 or 2026
  • Close all Visual Studio instances running, if any.
  • Double-click to install the downloaded VSIX file. You will see the VSIX installation prompts with the corresponding installed Visual Studio version checkbox for select the Visual Studio to install extension.

  • Click the Modify button.
  • After the installation is complete, open Visual Studio. You can now use Syncfusion® extensions from the Visual Studio under the Extensions menu.
