How to get quality output during RTF to PDF conversion in WinForms?

2 mins read

It is possible to get a good quality output during RTF to PDF, by drawing RTF as a metafile image into PDF, as this increases the quality of the output. The following code example shows how to increase the quality of the output during RTF to PDF conversion.

C#

string text;
//Read the RTF document
StreamReader reader = new StreamReader("sample.rtf", Encoding.ASCII);
text = reader.ReadToEnd();
reader.Close();
//Creates new Pdf document
var doc = new PdfDocument
//Appling Page setting
{
PageSettings = { Orientation = PdfPageOrientation.Portrait }
};
//Adds new page
var page = doc.Pages.Add();
//Gets the Page Bounds
var bounds = page.GetClientSize();
//Use metafile format for good quality output
var metafile = (PdfMetafile)PdfImage.FromRtf(text, bounds.Width, PdfImageType.Metafile);
//Applys format for metafile
var metafileLayoutFormat = new PdfMetafileLayoutFormat { SplitTextLines = true };
metafile.Draw(page, 0, 0, metafileLayoutFormat);
//Save the document and dispose it.
doc.Save("sample.pdf");
doc.Close();
