How to install the VSIX packages manually?
Applicable for earlier version 15.2.0.40 (2017 Essential Studio Volume 2). From the 2017 Essential Studio Volume 2 release, Syncfusion® provides the VSIX installer to install the Syncfusion® VSIX packages.
During the installation of Syncfusion® products, the Syncfusion® Extensions are automatically integrated into Visual Studio. However, if the extension is not installed correctly or appears to be disabled, ensure that the Syncfusion Extensions are properly installed and enabled. If necessary, you can manually install or enable them in Visual Studio by following these steps:
1. Navigate Tools -> Extensions and Updates in your Visual Studio.
2. Choose Installed tab and check for the enabled Syncfusion extensions.
3. If the extension is not listed in the Extension Manager, you can install it manually using the Syncfusion® InstallMVCExtension tool, which is available in the Syncfusion® installation directory.
Location: {Drive}:\Program Files (x86)\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\{Version}\Utilities\Extensions
For e.g.,: C:\Program Files (x86)\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\13.1.0.21\Utilities\Extensions
If the tool exists, uninstall and install the Syncfusion® Extensions. To use the InstallMVCExtension tool, refer to the following steps:
- If a patch is provided for any of the Extensions, then replace with the mentioned location, or ignore this step.
- Open the Windows Command Prompt in admin mode.
- Navigate to the above-mentioned location and launch the InstallMVCExtension.exe tool with the required platform names (the extensions have to be reinstalled) as arguments.
When replacing extensions for multiple platforms, separate the platform names with commas. The tool will then launch, uninstall the older extensions, and reinstall the updated versions.
For example, when you give “ASP.NET MVC, WINDOWS” as arguments, the tool uninstalls and reinstalls all extensions of the ASP.NET MVC and Windows Forms platforms within a minute.. To know more refer to the following screenshot.
