4 mins read

The XPS (XML Paper Specification) and OXPS (Open XML Paper Specification) are fixed document formats consisting of structured XML markup that define the layout of a document and the visual appearance of each page.

Syncfusion Essential PDF is a .NET PDF library used to create, read, and edit PDF documents. Using this library, you can convert XPS and OXPS documents to PDF in C# and VB.NET.

Steps to convert XPS to PDF programmatically:

  1. Create a new C# console application project. Create new console application
  2. Install the Syncfusion.Pdf.WinForms NuGet package as a reference to your .NET Framework application from NuGet.org.
  3. Install nuget packages
  4. Include the following namespace in the Program.cs file.

C#

using Syncfusion.Pdf;
using Syncfusion.XPS;

VB.NET

Imports Syncfusion.Pdf
Imports Syncfusion.XPS

XPSToPdfConverter converter = new XPSToPdfConverter();
// Convert the XPS to PDF
PdfDocument document = converter.Convert("XPSToPDF.xps");
// Save the document
document.Save("Sample.pdf");
// Close the document
document.Close(true);
// This will open the PDF file so the result will be seen in the default PDF viewer
Process.Start("Sample.pdf");

VB.NET

Dim converter As New XPSToPdfConverter()
'Convert the XPS to PDF
Dim document As PdfDocument = converter.Convert("XPSToPDF.xps")
