How to change the PDF properties using C# and VB.NET?

4 mins read

Syncfusion Essential PDF is a .NET PDF library used to create, read, and edit PDF documents. Using this library, you can change the document information of a PDF like author, creation date, subject, title, and producer using C# and VB.NET.

Steps to change PDF properties programmatically:

  1. Create a new C# console application project. Create new console application
  2. Install the Syncfusion.Pdf.WinForms NuGet package as reference to your .NET Framework application from NuGet.org. Install nuget packages
  3. Include the following namespaces in the Program.cs file.

C#

using Syncfusion.Pdf.Parsing;

VB.NET

Imports Syncfusion.Pdf.Parsing

  1. Use the following code snippet to change PDF properties.

C#

//Load the PDF document
PdfLoadedDocument document = new PdfLoadedDocument("Input.pdf");

//Modify the document information
document.DocumentInformation.Author = "Syncfusion";
document.DocumentInformation.CreationDate = DateTime.Now;
document.DocumentInformation.Creator = "Essential PDF";
document.DocumentInformation.Keywords = "PDF";
document.DocumentInformation.Subject = "Document information DEMO";
document.DocumentInformation.Title = "Essential PDF Sample";
document.DocumentInformation.ModificationDate = DateTime.Now;
document.DocumentInformation.Producer = "Syncfusion PDF";

//Save the document
document.Save("DocumentInformation.pdf");

//Close the document
document.Close(true);

//This will open the PDF file so, the result will be seen in default PDF viewer
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("DocumentInformation.pdf");

VB.NET

'Load the PDF document
Dim document As New PdfLoadedDocument("Input.pdf")

'Modify the document information
document.DocumentInformation.Author = "Syncfusion"
document.DocumentInformation.CreationDate = DateTime.Now
document.DocumentInformation.Creator = "Essential PDF"
document.DocumentInformation.Keywords = "PDF"
document.DocumentInformation.Subject = "Document information DEMO"
document.DocumentInformation.Title = "Essential PDF Sample"
document.DocumentInformation.ModificationDate = DateTime.Now
document.DocumentInformation.Producer = "Syncfusion PDF"

'Save the document
document.Save("DocumentInformation.pdf")

'Close the document
document.Close(True)

'This will open the PDF file so, the result will be seen in default PDF viewer
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("DocumentInformation.pdf")
