How to resolve settings conflict in Data Migration
When upgrading the Report Server to v4.1, it automatically detects whether the Admin Settings is configured with both the Report Server and User Management Server, and you will get the following page.
If settings have been saved in both the User Management Server and Report Server applications, the application will ask the settings that you need to retain.
The selected settings will be migrated from the Report Server to the User Management Server and the existing settings of the User Management Server will be removed.
The unselected settings remain same in the User Management Server and the application will ignore the Report Server settings.
In the Report Server v4.1, except Email settings, all the above settings such as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Import Users from Database, SSO will use the settings saved in the User Management Server. So, check the settings you want to proceed further at the time of upgrading.
For example, consider that you have configured the email settings in both User Management Server and Report Server.
The User Management Server is configured with Gmail configuration and the Report Server is configured with Outlook configuration.
On upgrading, the following page will open to overwrite the settings.
If you enable the button, the Report Server email settings will replace the existing email settings of the User Management Server.
Otherwise, the existing email settings of the User Management Server will remain same.
The User Management Server and Report Server utilizes their own configurations for sending emails.
User migration of AD, Azure AD, and imported user from database
When you enable to migrate the settings such as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Import Users from Database, the corresponding users can also be migrated from the Report Server to the User Management Server.
When you ignore the migration, the users and settings of Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Import Users from the database will not be migrated to the user management server. Only at the time of schedule synchronization, the users are fetched from the user management server and synchronized them to the Report Server.
