How to enable the Windows Authentication pop-up in browsers

When the users log on to the Report Server using the Windows Authentication, the browser automatically detects the logged on Windows user and authenticates to use the application.

To log on with different users, enable the login prompt in browsers. The login prompt settings, which are browser specific can be set as follows:

Internet Explorer

To enable or disable the login prompts in Internet Explorer, follow the given steps:

  1. Open the Internet Explorer and click the settings icon, and then select the ‘Internet Options’.

  1. Select the ‘Security’ tab in the pop-up window.

  1. Choose theTrusted sites” and click “Sites” in the Internet Properties dialog.

  1. Add the Report Server URL and close the dialog.

  1. Now, switch to “Local intranet” and choose the “Custom level”.select the custom level

 

  1. Prompt Settings
  1. Select “Prompt for user name and password” under “Logon” for the Internet Explorer to prompt for getting the credentials from the user.
  2. Select “Automatic logon with current user name and password” for the Internet Explorer to automatically log on as the currently logged user.

  1. Restart the Internet Explorer to apply the prompt settings.

 

Mozilla Firefox

To enable or disable login prompts in Mozilla Firefox, follow the given steps:

  1. Open the Firefox and type “about:config” in the address bar, and then press Enter.

  1. Accept the risk to enter the configuration panel.

  1. Search for “network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris” in browser and right-click it, and then select ‘Modify’.

 4.  Prompt Settings

  1. This dialog shows a list of application URLs to the users, which will be logged on to the application automatically.
  2. To Enable login prompt: Remove the Report Server URL from the list if it exists.
  3. To Disable login prompt: Include the Report Server URL in this list.

5. Restart the Firefox to apply the prompt settings.

 

Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera

In Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera, follow the same internet settings that has been set to the Internet Explorer.
